Sargeant to Drive Albon’s Chassis in Japan: Here’s Why

7 months ago By Sports Desk

At this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, Logan Sargent will take the wheel of his Williams, whose chassis has been repaired following team-mate Alex Alban’s crash two weeks ago.

During the Australian Grand Prix, Williams chose to give his car to Alban and the sergeant pulled out of the race after damaging his own car in an accident during practice. The decision was taken due to a lack of spare parts in the team.

When asked what chassis he would use in the Suzuka, the sergeant explained that he chose the repaired car because it would not be possible for the mechanics to replace the cars. However, he expressed confidence that the repairs had been successful and that the car would be in normal condition for racing.

The high speed and sharp bends of the Suzuka circuit increase the likelihood of accidents. With no spare car available again this weekend, they are likely to face a similar situation if another crash occurs before the race.

Despite the difficulties, Sargent was optimistic about the team’s performance and emphasized the changes made over the winter and the hard work put in to meet the challenges. He acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but stressed that the group is committed to overcoming obstacles and continuous improvement.

In addition, the sergeant shared that the chassis repair may have added some weight to the car, which could slightly affect its track performance. However, he is confident that the difference will be minimal and will not significantly disrupt his competitiveness.

Williams’ decision to prioritize Albon during the Australian Grand Prix was justified because statistics show he had a better chance of scoring points than Sargent. However, the sergeant expressed disappointment at not being able to compete, especially after performing well in training.

Despite this, he said he decided to focus on the moment and his performance at the Japanese Grand Prix.He stressed that he understood the team’s decision and was determined to work together to achieve the best results possible with the current car.

In short, Williams had been hired by Sargent, who drove Alban’s chassis in the Japanese Grand Prix, for lack of spare parts. Despite the team’s challenges, Sargent remains confident in his competitive ability and is determined to make the most of this opportunity.
