Can Ferrari’s New Signee, Lewis Hamilton, Walk in the Footsteps of Legendary British Drivers?

9 months ago By Sports Desk

Musical chairs are already underway in Formula 1 for the 2025 season and Carlos Sainz has gradually emerged as a central figure in the movement. Lewis Hamilton has confirmed he will join Ferrari in 2025, replacing Sainz, giving the Spaniard at least four options for next season.

Renowned F1 journalist Laurence Barteau shared his thoughts on the F1 Nation podcast, noting that despite losing his Ferrari seat to Hamilton, Sainz is not in dire straits. Barto insists that Sinz’s form is not in doubt, next year there will be more opportunities in the driver market.

“I really don’t think he’s in such a bad shape right now. I think the best thing that can happen is that he sees that he’s lost his place as the greatest rider of his generation,” Berto commented.

He stressed that Sinz has “many options” and noted that Mercedes and Red Bull still have places for 2025. Berto believes that Sinz has a better chance at Mercedes, especially knowing driver Toto Wolff.

“At Mercedes they want consistency and someone who doesn’t make noise. They want someone who fits well with Jorge Russell and Carlos Sainz,” Barto noted.

He also revealed that Aston Martin, Sauber (which will become Audi in 2026) and Williams could be alternatives to Sainz. While these teams may not scream “Ferrari,” Berto emphasized that each could grow at different rates in the coming years.

The initial uncertainty surrounding Sainz’s future after losing his Ferrari seat turns into a number of interesting possibilities. The 2025 F1 season is already starting to take shape before the 2024 season begins, promising a year of change and intense competition.

Attention now turns to Sainz’s next move and the team’s decision as the F1 chessboard continues to redefine itself ahead of a season full of excitement and intense competition.
