Charles Leclerc predicts Ferrari “should be closer” to Red Bull in China

7 months ago By Sports Desk

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is confident that the Italian team will be closer to Red Bull in the Chinese GP. After a difficult race at Suzuka, Leclerc expressed optimism about Ferrari’s performance at the Shanghai circuit.

Leclerc emphasized that the Shanghai circuit favors the characteristics of the Ferrari car more than the previous Suzuka circuit. With a corner that requires more of the front tires and less of an advantage for Red Bull’s RB20, Leclerc sees an opportunity for Ferrari to close in on the championship-leading team.

At the FIA press conference, Leclerc explained that he was more competitive during the race. He stated that although there have been some changes to the circuit since the last race, Ferrari is confident that it can cope with these changes and overcome any limitations the car may have.

However, Leclerc admitted that qualifying has been a weak point for him this season. Although Leclerc’s season got off to a smooth start in terms of competition, Leclerc’s qualifying performance fell short of expectations. He stressed the importance of getting the most out of the SF-24 during qualifying, especially in the two qualifying sessions this weekend, as sprint form has returned.

Despite the challenges of qualifying, Leclerc expressed his belief that Ferrari can be competitive during the race. He emphasized the need to think about the competition and not focus on your own performance and maximize the car’s potential.

The Monaco driver also demonstrated the importance of a consistent approach throughout the race weekend. He admitted that small mistakes in qualifying can lead to a much worse grid position, underscoring the need to maintain focus and concentration throughout the weekend.

As the exciting Formula 1 season begins, fans are eager to see if Ferrari can really get close to Red Bull at the Chinese GP. Led by Leclerc, the Italian team is determined to fight for the podium and challenge Red Bull’s dominance this weekend.
