Joan Mir: “If I Left Honda Now, I Would Feel Like I’m Failing”

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Joan Mir, the 2020 MotoGP World Champion, is facing a challenging season with Honda. Despite rumors and offers from other teams, he’s resolute in his commitment to stay with Honda, believing that leaving now would equate to failure.

His Journey With Honda

Mir’s journey with Honda began this season after Suzuki exited the series. His move to Honda marked the fifth different rider in six years to partner with Marc Marquez, and the challenges have been apparent. Riders like Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo faced difficulties during their tenures with Honda, raising questions about Mir’s future with the team.

Ongoing Struggle

Mir’s current season has been tough, with just five points scored in the first five rounds. Honda, as a whole, has faced challenges, but Mir remains determined to overcome them. Even after a double crash at the French GP, he expressed his determination to succeed with Honda. “

For sure, I’m scared because I want to win,” Mir said. “It’s very difficult for a rider like me to see myself in the position that I am. My motivation is to win races, to make podiums, and to be in the top group; this is what gives me the fuel for it. It’s been a long time since I didn’t have this fuel.”

His Strong Commitment To Honda

Mir’s commitment to Honda and his aspiration to achieve podiums and victories keep him motivated, even when facing a challenging season. He believes that leaving the team now would be akin to admitting defeat.

Staying with Honda represents a long-term challenge for Joan Mir. He hopes for changes within the team and a renewed competitive edge that will allow him to fight for the championship once more. While the road ahead may be difficult, Mir remains resolute in his determination to make his mark with Honda.

While MotoGP enthusiasts follow Mir’s journey, they will undoubtedly witness a rider who is unwavering in his commitment to face adversity head-on and strive for success in the world of motorcycle racing.
