Text message revealed to soothe Marc Marquez vs Francesco Bagnaia tension

7 months ago By Sports Desk

The world of MotoGP is always full of emotion and fierce competition, and a recent revelation about the communication between Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia revealed the more human side of the sport. After a tense incident during the Portuguese Grand Prix, the Ducati team decided to discreetly intervene and send text messages to calm the tension between its riders.

The confrontation between Marquez and Bagnaia took place during the race at Portimao, when an attempt to pass Bagnaia led to a crash that put both of them out of contention. Although the incident was considered a racing incident, the Gresini team rider, Marquez, placed the blame on a Ducati rider in Ganaya.

Faced with this potentially explosive situation, Mauro Grassilli, Ducati’s sporting director, took on the role of peacemaker. He revealed that he sent text messages to both drivers to see if any bad feelings remained after the incident. Grassilli’s approach was simple but effective: he simply asked the pilots if everything was under control.

The positive reactions from the marques and the paddock were a relief for the Ducati team, who could breathe easy knowing there was no real tension between their riders. Both expressed that they are looking forward to the next race at COTA, showing a mature and professional attitude to the situation.

The incident in Portimão had significant consequences for both drivers as both remained without points that weekend. Furthermore, Marquez’s crash in the following race at COTA and Bagnaia’s fifth place reinforced the impact of the lost points.

For Ducati, the incident also raised concerns about the dynamic between its riders, especially given Marquez’s reputation for an aggressive riding style. Although the clash in Portimao was caused by Bagnaia’s attempted overtaking, it is a reminder of the challenges the team faces in managing internal rivalries.

As the MotoGP season progresses and the fourth round at Jerez approaches, eyes will be firmly on Marquez and Ganaia. As two of the main contenders for the title, their ability to overcome differences and focus on performance will be crucial to the success of the Ducati team.

The revelation of the text messages sent by Ducati offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the sport, highlighting the importance of communication and diplomacy in managing rivalries between riders. With the championship still open, it remains to be seen how Marquez and Gania will continue to communicate and compete in the next races.
